Help your patients reduce the frequency of cold sores by recommending daily lipivir

80%

of the Canadian population carries the herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1)¹

20-40%

of carriers suffer from recurrent cold sore outbreaks²

What your patients should know

  • lipivir is a clear gel with a subtle, lemon flavour and is available in 2g tubes that last 1-2 months of daily application.
  • To achieve optimal results, lipivir should be used as a twice daily routine: a small drop of lipivir should be applied to the lips and surrounding area as part of their morning and nightly self-care routine.
  • Results may vary due to individual characteristics, history of outbreaks, and compliance. Patients should see their pharmacist or doctor if they experience recurrent outbreaks while using lipivir.
  • When daily application is stopped, lipivir's ability to reduce the frequency of cold sores also stops. Patients may soon after experience cold sore outbreaks like they did before using lipivir; however, there is no more severe rebound effect in response to stopping the product itself.
  • lipivir can be applied under all their usual skin creams and cosmetics.
  • lipivir does not protect from sunlight; a sunscreen or lip balm with SPF 30 or higher should be applied after lipivir.
  • lipivir is for topical use only and should not be used around the eyes.
